Classification of occupations 1997, standard

The classification of occupations is used in government official statistics when compiling statistics according to a person’s occupation and when reporting statistical data to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. The classification is recommended for use in respect of statistics and information systems outside the central government, as well.

The Classification of Occupations 1997 is based on the worldwide classification of occupations ISCO-88 of the International Labour Organisation, the ILO, but follows an European version, known as ISCO-88 (COM), compiled on that basis by the European Union.
